Friends of Education

The Friends of Education award is sponsored by the Confidence in Kansas Public Education Task Force. It's purpose is to recognize those within our community who have made outstanding contributions to public education. This program provides an excellent way for you to thank some of your strongest supporters during the past few years.

We need your help in identifying those deserving of this recognition. Nominations can be made in one of these five categories:

  • School volunteer
  • Community leader
  • Public sector institution
  • Community/civic organization
  • Ongoing partnership (3 or more years)

Principals, confer with your staff, your volunteer coordinator, and appropriate patrons, and enter as many nominees for each category as you wish. Those selected will be honored by our Board of Education and their names submitted for state recognition.

This program is designed to recognize patrons from the community. Employees or officers of an educational institution will not be considered. TPS district staff should be nominated for recognition through the Distinguished Staff Awards.

Make your nominations to the Communications department and NOT the task force! A nomination form is linked at the left in addition to a list of prior recipents. The deadline for nominations for 2014 recognition is December 20, 2013! Should you have any questions, please feel free to call Megan Ackerman at 295-3047 or e-mail mackerm@topeka.k12.ks.us.
